The check engine light is on code reads egr excessive flow. Now i have heard it could be egr valve or dpfe sensor any one have a clue which it should be and if it is the dpfe sensor (and what this is called at the parts store?) anyone know where it is on a 2002 mountaineer 4.0 v6 RWD. Please help

This happened to my wifes car, 2002 AWD. I ended up changing the sensor and the check engine light disapeared. The sensor is located near the fire wall on the RH side. If you open the hood and stand on the RH side (passanger side) and just behind the valve cover is the sensor. It connects to a couple of tubes and there is a single electrical plug.
I was told that the 4.0L was notorius for the sensor going bad. Hope this helps. |

This sensor typically called the DPFE sensor (Differential Pressure Feedback - EGR).
