F20C1 head swap onto a K20A2...
I was thinking about getting a RSX Type-S...
If you had a K20A2 (type-s) block and bolted on an F20C1 (S2000) head on to it how would much performance in terms of hp and torque would it gain? The S2000 stock has 240hp & 153 lb-ft tq., and the RSX-S has 200hp & 141 lb-ft tq. in stock form. I read in the same article that the head gasket in both the K20A2 & F20C1 are the same, and this guy named Paulus Lee from AEBS said in the article that the headd should bolt straight on from the F20C1 to K20A2. What do you guys think??? Would that sort of Frank swap be worth on anyone's Type-S??? Is it worth downgrading from i-VTEC to the classic VTEC? Come to think of it, you might be able to brew a turbo setup alot easier for the car since i-VTEC and its new fuel system would be taken out of the picture. Or am i just a complete moron and would changing i-VTEC to VTEC play no part in the way the fuel is delivered? I have this thread posted in the RSX forum and the Lets Get Technical forum but only one person answered it! Please HELP ME!!! I am seriously thinking about getting an RSX Type-S, i want to know if this frank swap would be possible! If it is not, i would just get the usual upgrades like AEM CAI w/ bypass valve; Comptech Header with a Greddy Evo Exhaust. I also want to drop in Toda Racing Cams, Valve Springs and than get a nice port & polish by means of extrude honing which would also include the intake manifold that would be port matched to a 64mm Pro Flow Design throttle body. If i decide to go FI than i would just forget the header and throttle body and just get the extrude honing or traditional p&p of the head and get the extrude honing of the intake manifold and than wait for my ass to save up for a nice turbo kit! Extrude honing probably costs... anywhere between a CRAP LOAD and a SHIT LOAD, but with time and alot of saving anythis is possible. Anyone out there willing to touch this subject would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! P.S. Even if you dont think i will be able to afford all this shit and even though i might know i cannot, please cut me some slack... let me dream!!!

If you swap the S2k head onto the K20A bottom, it will not work. Has something to do with the size of the pistons or rods or something.

Even if it were possible, the cost of an RSX-S plus F20C engine transplant would probably equal, if not exceed the cost of an S2000, considering one's FWD and the other's RWD. Why don't you just get the S2000, used or new? The suspension, balance and weight on it far exceeds the RSX-S, and once you transplant it, who knows what other problems may nag you.

i didnt say i wanted to do an engine swap. i said i wanted to do a head swap. i wanted to know if it could work, and what the performance increase would be. the s2k has regular VTEC while the RSX-S has i-VTEC. now if you did the head swap you would lose the i-VTEC and you would not have the same timing. i am still waiting to see if anyone out there does it. when it happens it is gonna be hella nice. thanks for any replies.
PEACE!

Ok so you want to swap some skivvy onto your RSX-S huh? Well first of all just toss the block and keep the head! The RSX head is a very nice flowing head and is perfect for a neo-frank. swap. So why the block you ask? Swap the bottom end from the k24 (The engine that comes in the accord and Element.)...why do you ask? Well that is very simple...it produces more trq than the S2000! (At a much lower RPM level)160 at 4 grand!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a nice intake...get a nice exause and wait for a turbo kit for the accord to come out..you will spank anything that pulls up next to you. The only hitch so far is that you have to either wait for Hasport to make a mount kit for the k24 for your car OR have it custom welded in. The options are yours. BUT I can promise that its better than your first idea. The compression on the s2000 is off the wall and couldnt handle a turbo kit...those that say they have good turbos for it just want to snag some money from you. My shop is in the process of taking an RSX-S head and slapping it onto a k24 bottom end... the car it will be going into is my 2001 civic dx. See ya at the track. |

IVTEC
(And ohhhh yeah...you will be keeping your I-VTEC which is a beautiful thing. Look into going to Hondata.com ..they have a flash programed RSX-S ecu that gives you 20 more HP just by working the RSX codes in the brain!!!!! Forget the s2000...they are junk!)

S2000
Sure the S2000 isnt junk....if you are an old man with a limp penis. That car is rear wheel drive... its crappy gas and the compression is to high for a high PSI turbo or supercharger. If you like that car... you truly know nothing about racing...you must just be a car lover in general. If you dont like what I said...tough... get over it.

Actually I own a Honda S2000, and I know for a fact that it isn't a peice of junk. Actually its a very nice sports car with good top end power. Tell me any other car that is Honda or Acura that can rev all the way up to 9000 RPM straight from the factory. Yes the Honda S2000 is rear wheel drive but someone people actually prefer rear wheel drive over front wheel drive. Some people like FRs and some people like FF personally I love the FRs. They give better start off the line I think. and another thing, how do you know that I know nothing about racing. Spoon sports made a racing S2000 and it is very fast. Now if the Honda S2000 was a piece of junk, why would a respectable company like Spoon Sports use it??? I may not know a lot about racing, but I do think I know a little bit enough to say that your wrong when you say that the Honda S2000 is a junk.

Spoon sports wants MONEY
Just so you know Spoon sports will make parts for everything they can so they get MONEY. They make parts for the honda CRX... which isnt that fast with the stock engine. Unless you do more work than the car is really worth. Second of all the HONDA S2000 isnt the baddest car Honda has made. Infact must I remind you about the NSX?
It wont be to long before the S2000 is gone...mark my words. Its also pathetic how the s2000 with a 2.0 4 banger gets worse MPG than the Vette ZO6...infact I think its REALLY pathetic. You can back your rolling mistake all you want... My 2000 civic Si gets better MPG and out runs S2000s all the time. Thanks to good ol know how and street smarts. Enjoy the gas prices pal! HAHA |

My CIVIC
I put very little money into my car. Infact I just gave it some time. It can beat an S2000 because I know how to make a car go fast. Note ...its a 2000 Si! not a CRX! Anyone with half a brain and 4 grand could make a crx run 11s in the quarter mile...all motor too. Its called an H22a.
My CIVIC isnt all motor....but it is a very nice setup. If you want to see it then maybe I will grant you that wish. If you show respect. |
