temp

My friend has a '92 or '93 dodge shadow. I don't know engine size. he says that his temperature guage is fluctuating a lot. It rises steadily to HOT then drops quickly to COLD, then repeats this. Does anyone have any ideas about this? If you need more information I will get it. Thanks

Possible sticking thermostat for one, or a bad (soft) collapsing radiator hose, air in the system, low on antifreeze. But i would try a new thermostat first.
