Angry Need Help Fast Coil Problem!

ok, i have a question i need answered fast! i hvae to get this car finished by sasturday (tags, ispection, insrurance photos) so it has to be running by Wed. I have a 86 mustang lx, converted to a carb'd 5.0. I have a MSD blaster coil and a MSD billet distributor. now, my wiestion is, where do the pos. and neg. terminals on the coil hook up to??? theonly wire comeing out ofthe dist. is the one thats suppose to plug into the MSD box, and thats done already. I used to know this crap, but being around fuel injection for a long time made me forget. thanks!

Re: Need Help Fast Coil Problem!

Did you try dowloading the manual for the MSD box model you have? I haven't played with any ignition boxes, but it probably directly controls the coil. The box most likely grounds the coil, so the positive coil lead will go to some switched "ignition on" source and the negative probably goes to the MSD box.

Also be sure that your MSD distributor has a steel gear if you still have a roller cam.

I have the "dirt cheap" electronic ignition on my '68. It consists of an '84 Mustang GT Duraspark distributor and a 4-pin GM HEI module with a regular old round coil.
