94 Rodeo security light/keyless entry?

Just picked up a used rodeo and noticed the red light on the left side of the steering column keeps blinking even though the switch is set to off. Is this normal? A key fob didn't come with the rodeo so we can't use that. Will the blinking light kill the battery?

That little light uses so little power its not even worth mentioning. That light would probably take years to drain a car battery.
