97 Safari starting problem
Battery is good. Took starter out and had it tested, was good. Put it back in and it's starts perfect? Starts 3 more times perfect... then it won't start. Every time I have lights etc. This started at the beginning of a cold snap. I have had to switch to my extra key because of wear. But the switch feels pretty sloppy also. When it does not start then is no sound or click from starter at all.
How do you check that neutral safety switch? |

Re: 97 Safari starting problem
Sounds like a poor connection somewhere. Look closely at the connections at the starter. They should be clean, free of corrosion, (no green fuzz growing on them), and tight. Also check the ground cable connections, both ends, for the same situation. A fine file or fine grit sandpaper works well to clean them. Check the entire length of both cables for fraying, repair and or replace as necessary.
