Re: a few questions on a 95
The security system, VATS, Passkey and Theftlock are stock.
How much oil at what frequency? Can't help ya much on the turbo issue :sorry; But me personally, unless it was a DOHC 3.4, I wouldn't give it much thought. |

Re: a few questions on a 95
Well, some sonsumption is normal, but I find that a bit on the excessive side. No smoke at startup or heavy acceleration? If it's not leaking externally, it's either being burned, hence smoke, or getting poast the head gasket into the cooling system
![]() I would certainly determine where the oil is venturing off to before doing anything out of the normal operating limits of the engine in sound condition. |

Re: a few questions on a 95
alright ill take another look at it, by the way about that stock security system, i press the unlock button, it unlocks the door on the driver side only, which i assume is normal, but when i press the lock button, it locks the passenger side and the driver you can still open and the system will just go off, any suggestions? thanks for the help again

Re: a few questions on a 95
Could just be a sticky actuator on the passanger door?
![]() My wife's car we just bought only saw usage of the drivers door for the last 5 years so the all the other doors were pesky to unlock. A few shots of WD-40 cured the situation. |

Re: a few questions on a 95
Most GM factory keyless entry systems are set up to only unlock the drivers door with one push of the button. A second push of the button within 3-5 seconds should unlock all doors if the system is working properly. The lock button should lock all doors with one push.
The oil consumption is harder to track. If it's not leaking on the outside of the engine and reaching the ground, it's an internal leak. But if it's internal, that kind of oil usage would cause blue smoke out the tailpipe. There is a oil pump drive o-ring that is a common oil leak issue on all GM 60-degree V-6's. It is located beneath the throttle body on the drivers side in the center of the block. It will usually run down the back of the engine and appear to be an oil pan gasket or rear main seal leak. It may only be leaking at driving speed/RPM and not at idle. This would cause the oil to be blown off and it may not hit the ground while parked. An inspection of the undercarriage would show the oil on the bottom of the car if this is the case.

Re: a few questions on a 95
thanks that solves the locking question i had, the oil i did spot a small mark on the driveway so im going to take a look at that, probably a gasket like you guys said, that problem can be figured as solved too, i understand this forum is mostly fixes and diagnoses, but im still wondering what to do for a turbo, is there any brand you know of and besides the turbo unit itself, what else will i need to add/replace. again i do have the 3.4 DOHC engine. thanks.

Re: a few questions on a 95
Putting a turo on the problematic, tempermental 3.4 DOHC is not a good idea. These motors have enough inherent problems, adding boost will just compound them.

But the 3.4 is not my fav engine. Get a strong 3.8 3800 series engine. I prefer a 5.7 350 ![]() Ive owned my 1995 monte carlo z34 for about 5 months, and it ran great for 4 of those months, and then i got hit with a fuel regulator, head gaskets, vaccum line, prom chip update, cam shaft sensor, and 02 sensor. This is just too many problems for me.
