1999 RS.....question
I have a 99 rs with an idling problem that just started. the car runs just fine until you turn on the a/c. at this point, the engine acts like it wants to jump out of the car. I called the local dealership and explained the problem to him and that the a/c compressor is not making any noises. he said it might be a switch that has gone bad. of course they don't want to tell you which one because they want to make some money. he did say that the engine needs 5-7 additional horsepower when the a/c is turned on. does anyone know which switch he might be speaking of and where is it located? the car has 45,000 miles on it and of course the warranty has exspired. just trying to save some money.

when is the last time you replaced the spark plugs? my rs idles funny when the a/c is on too!! does this happen when you are driving or just at idle??

I had a friend of mine check the car out and we found one of the spark plug wires was breaking down. so replaced the plugs and wires and solved our problems. it started out with the a/c turned on and progressed to any time the car was idling.
