What will ruin your clutch? Help

I just bought my 1st car a while ago (1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse) and now I need a new clutch in it. The car has 110k miles on it. When i 1st got it the clutch was alright nothing amazing but still worked well but now its just dead. I was wondering if it was me and what i did that ruined it or if they normally crap out after this amount of time. What are some things that can ruin your clutch?

Re: What will ruin your clutch? Help

Having the clutch partially engaged is one of the biggest causes of wear. Other than that if you engage it quickly (drop the clutch) you can tear it to pieces. Pretty much anything that is "hard" driving/shitfting will wear on it.

Not using the proper subforums displeases the DSM gods and they take the lives of things such as your clutch, timing belt, and first born. Dont let it happen again.

Have you been racing it? Driving hard shortens the life of the clutch. Also, it is just a stock clutch with 100k+ miles, some times shit just wears out no matter how nice you are too it.

Re: What will ruin your clutch? Help

Did you break it in properly...that could also be a cause to its failure.

Re: What will ruin your clutch? Help

When I first got my car, I was driving it and was slowing for a red light. I downshifted which caused the disk to spin pretty fast and it came apart. Then, in my infinite wisdom I decided to change it myself....do yourself a favor and take it somewhere to get it replaced. Also, I wouldn't advise another stocker.
