'07 Focus

I just took delivery of one of the first Michigan made '07's. How many others have the '07 models? Are there any issues to look for?

Thanks

Re: '07 Focus

The SES I ordered is a 5-speed, which is why I had to order it. It's got the big wheels and Pirelli tires.

So far so good. 4100 miles in a little over a month. I expect that to go up real quick as I drive for a living. So, if there are issues, I'm sure I'll run across them.

Haven't noticed any squeaking door panels yet.

Re: '07 Focus

Well, since my last post I've been having a lot of ongoing problems with engine ping during acceleration after shifting gears.

By that I mean as I let out on the clutch and step on the gas I get a short burst of pinging in gears 2-5. Ford dealer says there's nothing wrong, nothing shows in "Oasis"? and to try running premium gas!

Anybody else with a 5-speed run across this?

Bill

Re: '07 Focus

I have a 5 speed and no problems with pinging at all and I run regular unleaded 87 Octane.

OASIS is a Ford report that any authorized dealership can run, by your VIN, which will list any service bulletins or recall notifications for your vehicle. If you have more questions, please contact your local dealership or call the Ford Customer Relationship Center at 800-392-3673.

Re: '07 Focus

Thanks. I was beginning to think it is some sort of replacement for the diagnostics program.

Re: '07 Focus

Well, here's an update.

I'm trying to avoid involving Ford corporate until a last resort.

The Ford dealer I'm now dealing with (I gave up on the one a bought the car from) installed heat shield brackets yesterday saying they would take care of my spark-knock/ping. They did not.

So I went back today and got their ride along diagnostics guy to take a ride, again. This time after I was able to clearly produce the sounds and he tried driving. I'm lucky I still have a clutch left based on the way he was loading it up with one foot on the brake. Anyway he now tells me it might be the "auto-compensator". Anybody out there heard of such a device? He says this thing works similar to adjusting the timing on a distributor.
