Post Jdm motor madness

Well i am building my g/f a motor and i just wanted to know what you guys thought about the set up.

Gsr block
LS crank
b16a head w/ 5 angle port job
Integra type R pistons and rods
Civic Type R cams
spoon ecu w/ hondata
Ferrera valves
Titanium springs and retainers
Arp head studs

She wants all-motor. She loves how the k20a hits v-tec and can pull on boosted cars. Plus i wanted to try something different going. Almost all jdm to see how it does against against a newer racing motor. Lookin for tranny recommendations and recommendations on the build. B20 possibly?

Another k20 swap is out of the question--------- TOO much money

Re: Jdm motor madness

Which do you think would have the better gear ratio? Not so much for racing but when she is driving on the highway.

Re: Jdm motor madness

GS-R for sure, and better on gas mileage too (because obviously she won't be using pump gas with this combo).

Re: Jdm motor madness

Yeah well i figured 91 or 93 octane should do the trick. She will probably get lazy and put 87 in it. how much of a difference is a gsr with lsd make than a a b16 lsd. Oh and what are the thoughts on the motor?Just want to get some feedback before i start the build.

Re: Jdm motor madness

Getting lazy and putting 87 in a high compression, tuned motor will kill it. If that's the case just give her a D15. For transmissions, the gsr has a little shorter gears so the RPM's will be higher in each gear than the B16 at a givin speed.

No way man. With the combo you're working on, the compressions is going to be around 12.8:1. Not even 93 octane will be sufficient for that high of a compression. You'd be better off using the GS-R crank instead, that would bring the compression to around 11.3:1 (much better for 93 octane). But 87 octane won't work on any modified honda engine. So if she's really going to end up doing something like that, then don't waste your $ on building something so expensive only to have it destroyed within the first week. And now that I think about it... wouldn't the piston be out of the top of the block with that combo anyways and be hitting the head? Maybe someone more experienced can answer that.

Re: Jdm motor madness

there isn't really a need to get the "spoon" ecu unless you already have it.....because when its tuned, the "spoon" tune on it is going to be erased anyway. Also, you could get away with using something cheaper like Crome because its going to have all of the functions you'll need....
