resetting SES light w/o disconnecting the battery

How do you reset the SES light without disconnecting the battery? Seems like you can do a series of things from the drivers seat like "turn the key with the door open, wait 3 seconds, turn it off"...something like that. I've done it before but forgot what I did. 97 Pathfinder 4X4

Re: resetting SES light w/o disconnecting the battery

Never heard of any way to turn off the light with the ignition. You do have a diagnostic mode selector screw on top of the ECU that can be used to blink the codes and erase them. You can probably find some past posts on that.

Why do you want to clear the light? If the problem is fixed that triggered the light it will go off on its own after enough drive cycles are completed with no errors.
