Alfa Romeo 149 sketches

I did this one quite a while ago. It got me reconsidered for admission to the Industrial Design course in my college even though i failed it in the entrance exam and got accepted to architecture. A bulk of the inspiration came from Bertone and Giugiaro's Alfas. From the modern, Brera and the 159, to the pocket GT Alfas of the 60's and 70's like the 1600, the Giulia, the Giulietta and the GTA/GTV. The thin slit tailights pay homage to Bertone's considerable efforts. However, it is all tempered by anchoring certain elements of the design to much older design reference point, one that established Alfa's design langauge and overall look. Namely, the 8C 2900 Mille Miglia, hinted at in the grille (notice the lower portion) and the greenhouse profile. Enjoy.

Let me add the preliminary sketch for comparison and contrast.

A bit of rendering and the grille in detail.

Re: Alfa Romeo 149 sketches

Nice work. the proportions and perspective are spot on, but your coloring and shading needs work.
