Corolla engine conversion

Hey. Ive got a 1994 corolla wagon and I need to put a new engine in it as the 4a-fe is dead. Am looking at either a 4a-ge or 4a-gze. Was wondering how much is involved in this conversion? What sort of performance I can expect from each option when im done? And what any major difficulties may be? as im on a relatively small budget but can do most of the mechanical work myself. Thanks
