problems starting and getting worse

i have 92 chevy blazer s10 with the 4.3 vortec, all the lights come on when i start to turn the key, the starter does click, could it be a bad ground off the battery maybe? i had a loose cable before i grounded it to another spot with a new cable but it started fine, so maybe not that. there really is no play in the ignition, its not loose at all, just have to hold it about half way, if its before or after that point it will do nothing. then if that happens while im trying to start it everything goes dead, so i stop try it again the starter clicks a couple times then nothing, usually the third time it will turn over. the it tries to start but its like theres not enough power, but i have to hold the key just right when turning it over, not sure what to do the wires from battery to starter is good not loose, new battery. all i know is everyday its getting worse.

I am not getting what your trying to say. You turn it over and it clicks. You keep doing this until it starts...is that right? I tried to read what you said and I am confused...

Re: problems starting and getting worse

yeah sorry i wrote that in a hurry, the problem is everyday morning night cold hot doesnt mattter when i go to start my blazer it attempts to start then stops, all power off everything. then i have to hold the key just right and attmept again, same thing. usually the third time it starts. it keeps getting worse, i had a bad ground wire off the battery that i replaced that did not help. new battery. never leave my lights on. it doesnt kill when i drive. but the sound and actions are like if the battery is dead or dying. not sure what to do or make of it. battery? ground? seliniod? starter? any advise would be appreciated.

Re: problems starting and getting worse

a bad start selenoid will get worse over time. Clicking it a few times may kick it over enough to catch. That is usually the case.

A bad ignition is another possibility, but is quite rare.

Re: problems starting and getting worse

Is the negative ground cable from the battery connected directly to the engine? It should be. Check the battery cables. Do they have the original battery post clamps or do they have an after market replacement clamp. These get corroded where they clamp to the cable and sometimes the end of the battery cables will become corroded under the plastic insulation near the battery post clamp. Even the battery cable clamps that connect to the battery post could be corroded inside the clamp around the post and not be visible until you take them off for inspecton. Sounds like any of this could be your problem.
