98 cherokee sport
after replaceing the front wheel hubs , wife says it seems top heavy and swervey to drive , road crown does infact thow jeep from side to side ,im thinking it needs ,stabilizer bushings ,and link kits ,i read about the track bar stuff and now am curious about that and what to look for ,before a death rool takes place? please help us out ? also what would cause a sudden use of gas more than normal ,no leaks just useing more gas all of a sudden ,like half tank in 75 miles of highway driving in 2 wheel drive , going to unhook the ac compressor hot wire and see if it could be the reason being its stuck on i think?and running ac all the time thanks for any advice help with this

I'd have the alignment checked before throwing parts at the front end.
As far as the excessive fuel use, check the tailpipe...is it wet inside? If so, I'd suspect the O2 sensor; they've been known to go bad and make the mixture very rich.

had vibration at 45 mph has 138000 miles ,bought last dec for 2800 thought got a good deal but the front u joints on axels went bad so i replaced every thing i could see the hubs were easy to install but pricey does need stabilizer bushings as they are hard and cracked and very large for the shaft they are on ,so while im there ill do a new trac bar too ,i dont want to do this stuff in the snow next week or freezing temps i have no shop i work on a grass floor its tough but i cant pay shop labor 45+ an hour i do have good tools and am a decent mechanic worked as one for twenty years now retired ,but all most every thing has changed in the last 20 im sorta lost with computer controlls and such .EFI is a big pain at least the intake bolts are

I would check and adjust the toe in first..You can tape measure it...just like we use to do in the old days.
Track bar is easy to check....have someone turn it from side to side and look for looseness. You can also use the super long Snap-On screwdriver or pry bar. Shop labor at dealers out here are over $100 bucks an hour..more like 150. |
