Theft Light blinks and truck won't start.

My father has a 97 Expedition with 99K Eddie Bauer 4x4. Tonight while stopping at light the truck shut down and would not start back up. The starter turns the engine but the truck will not go. When turning the key the Theft light turns on and stays blinking. Also, I don't think the pump is running.. Please help!

it's the chip in the key it no good try the extra key.

Try a different key. Is the odometer display digital? If it is does it display properly, or do you have ------ if you do then you have a communication problem between the PCM and instrument cluster.

Sorry for posting the results so late. It turns out there was a shafed cable in the steering wheel coming from the ignition switch. When the wheel was turned the exposed copper would short out triggering the Anti-Theft System to turn off the truck. An electrician isolated the cable and covered the exposed copper with some electrical tape. Hope this helps someone down the line. Sorry for not posting the repair sooner. Thanks for your help.

Our Expedition just did this and the dealership is telling us that all the modules are somehow fried. Can you provide anymore details about the probelm on your Expedition?
