94 Iac 2.3l Sohc

JUst remembered that before I changed IAC valve with a used one that I unbolted the original one and pulled it up while the engine was running. Well the o-ring was sucked into the intake. Luckily I found the o-ring sitting in the bottom of the intake. Put the o-ring back on the replacement IAC valve and no change in the missfire. When the o-ring got sucked off that is when the missfire began and hasn't gone away yet. any ideas as to what might have caused that to cause a missfire. any thoughts as to what the next step should be. it seems everything else is working and no ses light. even the used IAC valve from the junkyard seems to be working. Runs great when it is cold but after it warms up it starts missing really bad. Could that be from the IAC valve.

Was the pocket the IAC was in all carboned up(black inside)?

If so clean it out with TB cleaner.
Make sure the passage ways coming from the IAC journal and into the Egr passage are clean and free of biuld up.

Also when installing the new IAC, the pental(pointed tip) usually needs adjusting.
I'm not certain on the measurement, I'll try and locate that spec for you.
Actually the new one should have a paper with it that has the adjustment spec.

Iac pintle shouldn't stick out more than 1 1/8 inch. If its out more than that, push it back down with a side to side motion. Or at least that's what the service manual says.
