89 535i 5speed, clicking sound when turning off
hello,
I just bought a 535i, 5 speed, with 145K mile. couple weeks ago i noticed when I am trying to turn the engine off, at the last couple of engine turns, I hear this clicking sound. I took the car to the mechanic (BMW), and he said it is timming chain guides, that come loose. is this true? |

Re: 89 535i 5speed, clicking sound when turning off
Your car has a "dual mass" flywheel, it was BMW's answer to smoothing out the idle of the M30 big 6. When you turn the car off, there is always a rattling or clicking sound. It's normal, try holding the clutch in the next time you shut it off, that's what I do...no sounds.
