2002 Voyager Blower

The blower fanon my 2002 Chrysler Voyager stopped working a while ago. I replaced the resistor. The fuse and the relay are fine. The fan works( i jumped it). Where do I go from here?

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

Welcome to the forum. Looking at a schematic for a 98 it appears the relay should be energised anytime the ignition switch is in the run position. The switch on the panel provides a ground for power through the relay switch contact then to the motor.

Do you hear or feel the relay click when you turn the ignition to run? If not check for power and ground at the relay socket on the coil side. If it does click check for power at the blower motor. If it's there verify the ground from the panel to the motor. If one or niether is there, check continuity on the wires to and from the motor.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

if its the ac fan blower motor most common problem is the connecter that plugs into the resister. start the engine turn on the ac and wiggle the connecter if still nothing, test for voltage at the connecter this will put you in the right direction. please let me know

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

I would look at the resistor contacts and the wires connecting them, burned up connections I understand have been a problem. Cable Guy was right on the trail.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

I still haven't fixed my blower. I am not getting any voltage at the resistor. The relay and the fuse checked out. I friend mentioned a module. Where are they and how do I check this out?

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

The only module on a 98 schematic is the A/C Heater Control Module. It is essentially the control panel the switch is on. Have you checked continuity through the switch from the resistor connector?

Here's the power path: 40 amp fuse/blower relay contact/motor/control panel/resistor block. If you don't have one I recommend you by a Haynes or Chiltons maintenance manual for your van. $18-25 at most auto parts stores/internet/Walmart etc. You can even check them out from your local library.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

Well I have narrowed it down slightly. I jumped 12 volts to my resistor. The fan works on all speeds which tells me the resisitor is fine and the switch is grounded and working. I guess that means the problem is between the fuse /relay box and the heater control module. my understanding is that the pwoer goes thru the Body control module then on to the Heater module. I would need a full schematic to pinpoint where it is stopping. Anybody know where I can get one . I checked a Haynes book and the schematic is generic and doesn't seem to match my car.

Thanks for everyones input.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

Doesn't show the BCM on a 98 schematic but, lots of changes could have been made in 4 years. Try Alldata.com for your schematic. They have a subscription service thats reasonable considering the money you'll save compared to a dealer. 2002 is fairly new so they may not have it but, worth a try.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

On my 2000 wiring diagram, the BCM does not seem to be involved with the blower at all. It looks like the front blower relay(located in the power distribution center) coil is fed from the ignition switch(in run position) to Fuse 12 in the Junction BLock to the relay coil. Then the hot feed to the output contacts of the relay is fed through Fuse 107(40a) in the Power Distribution Center. From the relay it goes to the blower. The blower speed switch, resistor block etc is all on the ground side of the motor. At least on a 2000.
Hope this helps
Let us know the results

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

Have you checked to make sure the connector on the back of the heater control is on tight , I would pull it and reseat it first and work from there .

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

Is there another fuse other than the 40A in the power distibution center?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean, but the fuse for the blower is right next to the relay in the PDC on my schematic for a 2000.

Re: 2002 Voyager Blower

You mention a fuse 12 in the Junction Block.

Yes, that is a 10 amp fuse on the Junction Block assy that fuses the hot feed from the run position of the ignition switch to the blower relay coil. The junction block is different from the PDC. Someone else may be able to tell you the location.
