94 Grandam 2.3.L ALDL Not Working?
When I jump the A and B terminals on the ALDL the service engine light does nothing. The light comes on when I turn the key on the ignition, but it does not flash code 12. What do I need to do if anything. The reason I wanted to check for any stored faults is that the car stalls when coming to a stop after driving over 40-45mph, but then starts right back up and when shifting to drive dies again, but after waiting a minute it will go??? This is an intermittet fault also. Thank you for any help.

Re: 94 Grandam 2.3.L ALDL Not Working?
Jumping the terminals will not work on the 94 or newer aldls. only 93 and older will this work. Also i'm about to answer my own question from another post. The stalling problem sounds like the Idle Air Control valve. I have noticed that it will not throw a code if it is plugged in even if it is not working properly. Just because no codes aren't showing up doesn't mean that it ain't startin to wear out. hope this helps.

Re: 94 Grandam 2.3.L ALDL Not Working?
Checked the transmission fluid and it was a pint low so added some fluid. Haven't had problem since, but only drove it once at high speeds. Hopefully this will fix the problem and the tcc is okay but it has been an intermittent problem so time will tell. Thank you for your help. Oh by the way how would I check for stored faults since I can't jump the A-B terminals? This car has only 3 terminals on the ALDL.

The Dealer can check them.
Some independent shops have software or scanners that can check them, but not many.

Usaully Auto Zone or an Advance Auto parts stores have scanners and will check it for free. Call around to stores and see if they provide this service.

Re: 94 Grandam 2.3.L ALDL Not Working?
94 and 95 can't be checked with a small handheld scanner. What needs to be used is the laptop version, snap-on sells one for $2400. Find an independant garage that has one, should hit you for $20 or so for the time involved and you can find out all of the settings from the scanner.

I got on I-70 Friday night and was able to test the car out. I didn't have any problems after adding a pint of transmission fluid. The car didn't stall once when stopping which I did several times after reaching highway speeds. I learned something new regarding the transmission and how it effects my car that may have saved my life. I had to avoid an accident with a van that involved me slamming on the brakes and having to steer to avoid going into the ditch if the car would have stalled I don't know if I would be typing a response. Thanks for all the help, God bless and please continue your great work.
