Engine Removal

I have done plenty of rear wheel drive engines. How difficult is it to snatch my 3.8 out of my '99 LTZ to replace the oil pan gasket? I have valve cover gaskets as well. Any other gaskets I should replace as preventative maintenance?

I have the tools, the lift, the jacks and all of that. I am just a bit concerned over FWD engines. in fact, I beat my hands up changing plugs just because I thought if I rolled the engine forward I would screw something up.

Runs great other thatn my garge floor looks like crap.

Re: Engine Removal

It's pretty straight forward. Jack front end, remove tires and calipers, remove master cylider, diconect 2 main wire harneses. Disconnect wires to starter and ground wires. remove top front engine supports. remove cooling fans. remove lower motor mount nuts (4) disconect hoses. remove 4 bols behind strut mounts. pop the half shafts from tranaxle. there will be other things to diconnect such as shift position cable, some vacuem hoses, exelorater cables..... you should have to copletely remove motor just raise enough for clearance. think safety and work smart not hard

Thanks a bunch. Sounds about what I expected. The oil is starting to leak pretty good on the 3.8.

Thanks!
