Then it eventually shifts, and everything works as it should, untill it happens again about 2 weeks later. This does not seem to be happening more frequently, but once in about 2-3 weeks it occurs.
Anyone know whats wrong?

What I'm hearing you say is you start the car and push on the brake pedal and then try to move the shift lever out of park and it won't move because of the safety lock solenoid. You can test by being sure you put your foot on the brake first before trying to move the lever.
Also, you can turn the key the first step from Lock, which is Off, and move the lever without having to push on the brake to release the lock pin solenoid.
When you turn the key to On the dash lights come on-that's too far.
Try these. I used to have a 93 and I had gotten in the habit of pushing the key in quickly, rotating the key, and pushing the brake pedal all in one motion almost and would fiind the shift lever locked.
