Starting problems

My ignition turns the engine over..but the computer generated icons do not light up on the instrument cluster. It does not turn on the glow plugs etc?
Is this ignition switch replacement time?

It is a 1996 . Seems I have fixed it by replacing the ignition switch. Thanks
