My jimmy is rated for 5w-30. I spaced out and changed in 10w-40. Is this a problem? I'm thinking about running by a ahop and having them change the oil back, but leave the filter.
Thanks My jimmy is rated for 5w-30 motor oil. I spaced out and changed in 10w-40. Is this a problem? I'm thinking about running by a a shop and having them change the oil back. Is it important to switch it? 2001 4x4 w/ 109k miles. Last edited by Blue Bowtie; 11-26-2006 at 10:00 PM. Reason: Duplicate Posts |

Re: Used the wrong oil. Went heavier. Problem?
Depends on how hot it gets where you're at. If you're in the USA, you're likely right to change it back. Oil that's too thick can't get into some of the lifters and they'll start "pecking" soon.
