Help with struts

I was hoping you guys can help me out.
I'm changing the struts on a 2000 Impala. I compressed the spring with spring compressor, the only problem is I don't have enough room to get to the spring compressor bolts once the stut is on. Is there something I'm missing? I can't believe I'm having this much trouble with this. If you have any advice, tips, tricks it would be appreciated.

Re: Help with struts

Once I install the strut/ spring on the vehicle.
I can move the compressor a coil or two down, but it does not compress the spring enough to bolt to the steering knuckle.
