Power Mirrors ?? 99 Silverado 1500 2WD

5.3L V8

My power mirrors have not operated in some time. I don't know if the switch is bad or not.

Does anyone have a diagram or a troubleshooting procedure on these mirrors?

There are 9 wires going to the switch. I checked voltage today and found that 12VDC is on the orange wire. Without a wiring diagram I'm lost. I have a Haynes book but it doesn't detail the power mirrors circuit.

Thanks for your assistance.

I take it that your mirrors don't work in all directions? I found the other day that mine wouldn't work moving mirrors to the left. So I Took the switch apart and cleaned all the contacts. Now it's as good as new. You may want to try and clean your switch depending on how comfortable you are with that.

The mirrors don't work in any direction. This switch has a "left - right" selector on the front and a directional switch behind it. Actually it comes out in one unit. The switch itself looks OK. I took it apart and the contacts are clean. Didn't really see any problems. It may just be a fuse but I don't know which fuse feeds the power windows.

Re: Power Mirrors ?? 99 Silverado 1500 2WD

Jim: My '98 C/K manual shows 8 wires. The orange wire is the 12v feed from the "CTSY" fuse. It's fuse #3 in the IP fuse block 20a. It is also "hot at all times". So if you've got power on the orange wire you need to check the black wire for ground. There are 10 internal switch contacts. Hard to believe they'd all go bad at once.

All functions on the drivers seat of my '98 Sub quit working. Turned out to be the underseat plug ground connection!! This seat problem is different from yours as there are 2 fuses and a circuit breaker involved. Had to be a ground problem.

A note on fuses. They may show voltage on the meter but when you put current to them?? Change the fuse, check ground and check the plug connectors.

Hope this helps.........Steve
