K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
I want to put a CAI on my car in the next 2 months (I know its a little far away). I'm not sure what manufacturer to use though and I don't want to second guess my decision later.
I heard great things about both K&N and Thrasher, but I'm not sure which to go with. Maybe there's a better manufacturer out there that I don't even know about too! Any ideas?

Re: K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
IMO just about all the CAIs/FWIs on the market are about equal and any performance gain is about equal. However, the cost varies to include certain features. Ease of installation varies. Doesn't make any difference if it is a Thasher, MSP, SLP, K&N or Wizaired, etc. I have a Thrasher mainly due to the cost and features such as being able to properly secure the PCM module.

Re: K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
Are there problems with the other manufactureres not being able to properly secure the PCM? That would seem like a huge drawback to me. That would be the last thing I'd want moving around.

Re: K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
From what I understand yes. I can vouch for the Thrasher brand. That is a problem with the K&N brands like the Aircharger. Not sure about SLP or Wizaired brands. The Thrasher and MSP CAIs have the enclosure or PCM tray so it is not an issue.

Re: K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
I ran into that problem when installing my K&N.. It’s a fairly simple solution if you want to go the K&N route. Basically the air box can be separated. It’s not meant to be, but you can see where the seam is where it is weatherproofed and glued together.. Cut away at the glue and pry it apart. You will be left with the bottom half that fits in the original mounts, and then use a few hose clamps together to fasten the top of the pcm down. If you do it right you will end up with a very secure pcm and enough clearance for the new intake. The only problem is the exposure to the elements. But as long as you don’t take the car swimming you should be fine..

Re: K&N or Thrasher...or something else?
Thanks guys, I think I'll be using a Thrasher. I like the fact that it has a decent enclosed box annd that it secures the PCM like you said!
