another 1994 Nissan Pickup won't start
Battery appears to be good and charged (also tried running a booster).
turn ignition to Run and hear the normal bells whistles and whirrrs. Turn to start, no clicks whatsoever. Tried jumpering the big blue ignition relay. no change. next idea? I know someone else asked for exact position of the starter in these things, but no one pointed to any photos or sites with a diagram... anyone got a link so I can at least try giving that a whack? |

when I say no clicks, I should clarify and say I hear clicks down by the fuse panel in the dash, but nothing from the engine compartment

Check the electrical connections to the starter and solenoid. Do you have a repair manual for your vehicle? Starters can generally be found by following the positive battery cable. Is your battery good?

Re: another 1994 Nissan Pickup won't start
friend and I started the vehicle this weekend by tapping the starter.
I get maybe two starts off of a once-tapped starter. I'm setting up an appt. for a replacement. |

Re: another 1994 Nissan Pickup won't start
I think you are on track. The starter seems, to me, to be very small for the application. The starter is one of the few things I've had to replace on my '93four pup with 200+ Kmiles.
Rebuilding the engine and clutch currently. Original alternator and water pump still going. AC has never been serviced, checked seasonally but never required a bit of refrigerant. The torsion rod anchors are squeaking and greasing is way-overdue. |

Sounds more like worn bushings binding.
