wheel hub
Hey guys another issue with my alero... love the car, just hate how it works sometimes. I've replaced my wheel hub twice on the left side of my car and once on the right, well at least my mechanic has. He says that he did what he was supposed to do, used a torque wrench instead of a impact wrench. Anyways, is there a specific bearing that you guys would suggest, and is it possible to do myself, where would I get the diagrams, etc... please help because I have the ABS light, TRAC OFF, and SERVICE ENGINE SOON light all on. Thanks guys.

I have always tried to stick with TIMKEN for the hub assemblies. I first tried the wanna be Chinese verision and it falled out of the box. FYI. |

Re: wheel hub
Also, I would not rule out bad wiring or electrical connector at each hub. Inspect the wiring for damage or fraying along the subframe and lower control arms. You can ohm out each wheel sensor with a digital multimeter. Across the hub side wheel sensor contacts with connector removed you should read around 1K ohms per sensor. Range of 800 - 1200 ohms. Check electrical connectors for water intrusion and corrosion.
Other good hub brands are BCA - National and AC Delco. To properly troubleshoot without guessing the ABS/Traction Control system should be scanned with an ABS capable scanner and wheel sensor output tested.
