Electrical Problems
The engine cranks but will not start. I have installed on new wires, and a new battery. When I turn the key forward it will start if i hear the Fuel Filter turn on. I have a bad connection somewhere but I can't find. I have replaced the wires to and from the battery, starter, and alternator. Could there be a bad connection near the fuel filter.

Re: Electrical Problems
okay 1st - the fuel filter doesn't have an electrical connection - the fuel pump does - from what i gather you are saying that when you turn the key to on ( not start ) you dont always hear the pump run correct ? make sure you wait 10 + seconds after turning the off before you turn the key to on again and see if the pump runs .... before we go any further post back and let us know what you find.

Re: Electrical Problems
The Vehicle is a 1997 S-10 Blazer 4-wheel drive. When I turn the key forward and the dash lights come on, and the Fuel Pump makes noise it will start. I tried shutting it of for 10 seconds then trying to start it still it is sparatic when It will start. It acts like a bad connection but I rechecked and they seem fine. Could it possibly be a senser, nuetral saftey switch? It could be the starter but it doesn't click, or crank hard seems to work fine when the dash come on as I turn the key forward. I replaced the key cylinder with no change. The service engine light did come on briefly.

Re: Electrical Problems
You said you replaced the key cylinder with no change, Did you replace the IGNITION WIRING HARNESS too, or just the key cylinder? Does your truck ever just die out while driving it? Did you ever turn the key on and NOT hear the fuel pump whine?

Re: Electrical Problems
Ignition switch for sure.
Not the key tumbler, the black switch module in the steering column.

Re: Electrical Problems
I just changed the key cylinder not the wirring harness. It never dies while driving. I have turned the key forward without the fuel pump whine but when that happens the dash lights do not come on and the truck will crank but not start. It always starts when I hear the whine and the dash lights turn on.
