Air Cleaner Hose 95 2.2L Federal
I have a 95 Camry/Federal 2.2L ( Japan)
I replaced the air cleaner hose that attaches to the throttle body as it was cracked and leaking on the throttle body side. There was some sort of vaccum hose ( plastic fitting )attached to the air cleaner hose located about 2 inches from the throttle body. When I installed the new air cleaner hose, the position of this vaccum hose inlet on the new air cleaner hose was on the air cleaner side. So, I ended up extending the vaccum hose. But, I think I made a mistake. When I installed the new air cleaner hose, I put my finger over the hole where the vaccum line was to be connected. I did not feel any air rushing in and did not give it a thought. ( while the engine was at 750 rpm) But, now I think this inlet for the vaccum line needed to be perforated before i installed the plastic elbow. One of the reasons why I am asking this question, is that I have another 95 Camry ( Canada ) that does not have this vaccum port on the air cleaner hose. So I am thinking that I installed a "universal" air cleaner hose and I should have perforated that inlet before installing the elbow. What does this vaccum port control, as the car runs fine and I think what ever sensor is sending too is not effecting the engine at this point. I changed out the hose today and my daughter took the car back to school and seems to run fine. Jen |

Re: Air Cleaner Hose 95 2.2L Federal
Not sure, but the hose may be a reference for the MAP sensor. I would make sure there is access to the intake hose for this purpose.

Re: Air Cleaner Hose 95 2.2L Federal
Hello Brian:
I have not been able to get to the car to open up the pilot hole in the air intake hose. ( car is 100 miles away) Car seems to be still running fine, but I will make sure that vaccum line is properly installed once I get the car back around Christmas. Thank you for the reply Jenny |
