Exclamation 1990 Corolla low beams don't work

My bro's 1990 Corolla sedan(base model) low beams stoped working about a month ago! Since then I have tried to fix them! I have checked the relay, fuses, bulbs and all are fine!! I have replaced the whole headlight switch assembly located on the collum and still does not work! I have the toyota shop manuals for the car and have gone through the test and I am at a loss as to what the heck is wrong???? The high beams do work???

Re: 1990 Corolla low beams don't work

Did you check the power and grounds at the plugs? Use a wiring diagram to help trace the circuit. Use a meter to check for voltage and resistance. How did you check the bulbs?
How did you check the fuses? Did you use a meter to see if power is going through the fuses?
How did you check the relays?
If there is no power going to the plugs to the bulbs, you are going to have to trace the circuit until you find the fault, either a faulty component, connection, or damaged wire.
If you have the correct voltage going to the plugs, then you are going to have to look at the ground wires. Making sure they have a good connection to the body.

Re: 1990 Corolla low beams don't work

I did check the headlight plugs and where the switches plug in for grounds and voltage. The only thing was that I was getting all + power at all 3 wires at the headlight???? I couldn't figuar it out! I checked the switch using the continuity test the Toyota service manual said to and everything checked out fine! I tested the relay using the tests in the same book and seem to work fine I also swaped the other relay and tried it to and still no low beams, but the highs always work???? And now the crazyiest thing??? I went under the drivers dash side and found a bunch of old not in use stereo/elec stuff??? So I unhooked all of that and wiggles every connector I could find, and tried to make sure everything was pluged in, I put everything back togeather. Just as I was going to call it a day, I tried the lows one more time and they worked??? I couldn't belive it??? I have no idea what I did(if anything) or how long it will last but they work for now! So my bro can once again drive at night with out blinding people!!!
