Tamiya Acrylic gloss White

I am planning to spray a body with acrylic white made by tamiya, but in the past I just can't get it correctly. After my last paint job, I just cant get a smooth paint job. Do you guys recommend the Mr.Hobby white over tamiya white?

Re: Tamiya Acrylic gloss White

I recommend TS-26 white if you're spraying a body over the acrylic bottles. I have found that correct thinning and airbrushing are better for getting white to lay down nicely though.

When it comes to Mr.Hobby vs. Tamiya acrylics and airbrushing, I haven't noted much difference in spray characteristics, although I must confess I spray Mr.Hobby paints far less often so it may be lack of experience with them.

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure too. I read it somewhere in this forum saying Mr.hobby's white lays a better coat for body or something. I forgot where I saw it and I cant find it again ><"

Re: Tamiya Acrylic gloss White

Yeah when thinned properly Tamiya acrylic white behaves reasonably well. But I find that ofr spraying acrylic whites the most importaint thing is to apply them on a good even flat white base. Tamiya TS white primer is fine for this, but so is flat white acrylic. Apply the flat until it's opaque, even, and perfect, and then spray the gloss in light wet coats over it.

Re: Tamiya Acrylic gloss White

I never have much success with the Tamiya acrylic white in the bottles and always use Tamiya TS26 aerosol spray instead.MPWR is correct. The most important thing with any white is a good, smooth, white primer base.
