Casino Royale

Anyone else seen it?

I saw it last night and I have to say. I was actually pretty suprised. I didn't think that I was going to like Daniel Craig, but he does a very good job. The movie is the start of the bond franchise, or supposed to be the first movie. It was the first novel Ian Flemming wrote with the bond character in it.

The movie itself is kinda lengthy, but bond is more emotional in this film and more realistic. The fancy gadgets that he usually has are gone(Except a defibulator which is hardly a spy gadget) And in alot of the fight scenes, while he is bad ass you can see that he is a flawed character. It makes for a wholy more realistic depiction and greatly improves the movie. I really enjoyed it and while my girlfriend isn't a bond fan at all and not really a action movie fan, she enjoyed it.

On another note. I got an xbox-360 for 100 bucks off amazon

Re: Casino Royale

I want to see it but I also had doubts about it. So it lies in place as one of the first Bond stories in the actual series?

Re: Casino Royale

Nice... Now I will definetly have to go see it because I'm a Bond fan. I just thought this was gonna be a knock off one for the next generation of Bonds... I'm glad it isn't.

Oh yeah, BTW, how'd you manage to get a 360 for 100 bucks???

Damn you bastard. ive been trying to get just one xbox with 4 pc's. Amazon's site crashed and all 4 pc's timed out.

edit: casino royale was a good movie. i do agree it was more realistic with bond being almost uncoot at times. well you know what i mean.

Re: Casino Royale

I thought it was good, except for the fact that they seemed to have forgot that this was supposed to be the first Bond movie, yet they make several mentions of things that happened recently. In one of them they show the date of 2006, they mention the 9/11 tragedy, and they mention the cold war...which supposedly shouldn't have happened yet. Other than that, I thought it was good. More gadgets would have been nice though.

They had a special on Amazon, like a one time only thing. And you had to be on the site at just the right time. Thinking back on it i probably should have posted the article here but I didn't really think about it. Probably because i found it on another DSM website

As for the bond movie. Yeah it is supposed to be the first, but they updated the movie for modern times. Who wants to watch a movie that has bond in it set in the 60's? Heck no. people want to see him in today's time, it makes it easier to relate to the characters and the plot.

I don't understand what you mean?

This is the first time this book(Casino Royale) has been made into a serious movie. No other actual Bond film was based on that book.
