Gauges

The people over at the srt forum are trying to tell me that autometer are "crap" gauges so I want to know your guy's opnions. I'm talking best bang for the buck also. I'm thinking autometer cobalts boost and electric oil press.

Re: Gauges

My boost gauge was autometer, and worked just like it should have. I am sure Greddy works great too, but pricewise....autometer FTW

Re: Gauges

I'm looking to spend no more than $300 for an electric oil press and boost for the record

Re: Gauges

I voted Autometer too. Some people talk shit, but realistically just about every aftermarket guage I have seen in a street car has been an autometer and 99% of the guages I have seen in the dirt track racers have been autometer. Theres one brand that has a pretty universal approval, I think its the guys name, but damn they are expensive. I would (and am) going to go autometer.

Why go electric?

Re: Gauges

mechanical boost and electric oil because I didnt like the fact that when I was driving the talon I had 75+psi of hot oil running to a guage a foot away from my face and electric is easier to install

Re: Gauges

Autometer is the best bang for the buck and has the best quality too.

Re: Gauges

which series do you guys like the best. I'm thinking cobalt because I like black faces with led lighting. Whatever I get I want led lighting but I either want black or silver faces.

Re: Gauges

I like the white faced guages, but I got a cobalt one from the parts car so rather than look gay with a couple different series of guages I am just going to go with more cobalt ones.

Re: Gauges

I am running the Phantom series because they are inexpensive for the typical Autometer quality and they match my stock gauges very nicely.

I do like the Cobalt gauges too but they seemed a bit pricey when I last looked them up.

Re: Gauges

on average the cobalt series is $10 more than the phantoms. I have all phantoms in the talon but want something a little more technology I guess you could say, basically I like the lighting

Re: Gauges

I had Defi's on the Spyder, with the brain-link thing. They were awesome, really high end stuff. I had boost, EGT and fuel pressure, and the brain unit. Each guage new on EBay is like $240, but I got everything $350 shipped from a guy parting out his car. I think quality-wise they are just amazing, but probably not the best bang for the buck...you can spend a lot less and get a lot more.

As for autometer, have you seen their Nexus series? That stuff looks top notch.

Re: Gauges

nexus' are nice but for $250 a guage plus $270 for the controler is a little to much for me
