I just installed my new stereo in my 1990 pontiac tempest and everything sems to be hooked up right. i turn it on and try to listen to music but nothing comes out of the speakers, except when i turn the power to the system off then i get a short 1 second where i can hear the music. there is no amp just a deck and the stock speakers. can someone please help me out

What exactly did you install? The head unit? Check all wires in the back and make sure they are connected to their respective harness wires. Also make sure the unit is properly grounded.

did you use a premade wiring harness to connect the new headunit up ?

i only used the one that came with the head unit no others

How did you attach the wires? Did you cut the factory harness?
