Changing a front wheel drive 3.8 to rear wheel
Hello all,
I have been interested in the 3.8 Series II with a supercharger. I have a 1964 Pontiac Acadian, same as the Chevy II only made in Canada. Most guys swap out the measly little inline sixes for V8s. I still want the fuel mileage, but I would also like a little more uummph of a V6. Some of the 3.8s seem to be a popular, highly rated motor. I know that the 1995 Impalas, Camaros, Firebirds had rwd drive set ups. However, the motors for these cars seem to be few and far between and much more expensive than ones for the Buick Regal GS's. I want to know if there is anyway to convert a 3.8 out of a fwd car to a rwd? What issues besides motor mounts, computer, and return fuel line do I need to think about? I know that the intake on the front wheel drives is mounted on the transmission side so that if it was converted the intake would face the back. Any possible solutions to this problem such as an intake from a different motor? What BOP RWD transmissions, standard or auto, will bolt up? Maybe I am even thinking bout it.Thanks for your help. |
