fuel filter help

Changing the fuel filter on a 97 cavalier and the quick release tab broke, any ideas on how to get the old filter off with the plastic quick release broken? Thanks in advanced for any help.

Channel locks on the other end and pull hard, thats what i did when it happened to me.
