What do you guys think?
i just bought these mags, and i need to take the paint off of them, should i resort to regular paint thinner? or will that damage the surface underneath?

Re: paint stripping

I would media blast them. The paint on wheels is extremely durable, and often times wheels are powder coated. In the case that they are powder coated, stripper wont even touch it.

they were actually painted with primer/paint/clear, all from a spray can, therefore it's not the original finish. Do you still recommend i "media blast" them?
is that the same as "sand blasting" ?

thanks

I like media blasting as its quick, and efficient. Media blasting is the same is sand blasting. Media blasting is the more technical term since you're not always using sand as the abrasive. You could use a chemical stripper if you'd like, that works as well. Be careful as its very caustic and get some heavy duty rubber gloves, wear eye protection and make sure there is adequate ventilation if you do not wear a respirator.

just one more question, do you know if l the use of any abrasive, or techinques of blasting, damage the original surface/finish of the wheel?
