Is a stage 3 head a good idea?

OK i am about to buy a new head for my 92 talon tsi and i was wondering if this would be a good head or if i would be better off just building one?

Fine, I clicked on your link.

ARP head studs, gasket kit, Cams. Stage 3 SBR head with stock springs/retainers?? if your spending 1100, you might as well get some 92lb/seat pressure springs and retainers. That is if you're planing on ever using 280deg cams (fp3/comp3/DHK3/HKS280/exc) or if you plan of reving past 8500rpm

Re: Is a stage 3 head a good idea?

Head work is $$

Just finding a good used head from a junk yard + maching, parts will cost $500 +. I've seen a friend warp 2 heads trying to get his car running. He would had been better getting a head from a "known good 4g63 shop" insted of having the machine work done at a local machine shop. Heads & Machineing are 2 things I wouldn't mind paying retail for to know it's not somthing I did.

Depends on what your goals are. What kind of motor are you building for it?

Re: Is a stage 3 head a good idea?

That is fucking rediculous. I dont see anything about cams and stock springs and retainers? Shit, if I were to spend $1100 on a head the shit better have dual springs, ti retainers, some fucking HKS 280's, and 1mm o/s valves.
