Truck is killing Window motors/regulators
Any clues as to why my truck keeps killing aftermarket window regulators? One possible thing is I put a voltmeter to the plug, hit the window switch, and read 14V...? Shouldn't it be 12? Maybe that's why my dimmer is getting so hot? (previous post) My driver's side window works fine.

Re: Truck is killing Window motors/regulators
I had to replace my driver's side last year. Worked like total crap. I got aggrevated at it, and ripped the door apart again to find out what was going on.
Turns out, that with everything bolted up in the stock locations, the rails where out of alignment. I ended up unbolting the front rail, running the window up and down a few times to let it find it's center. Ended up drilling a new hole and bolting it about 1/2" towards the rear rail at the bottom. Make sure you lube the tracks up with some white lithium too. 14 v is fine (actually it's preferred) Just my 2 cents....

Re: Truck is killing Window motors/regulators
Lithium helped, but it still quit. Funny thing is, after a few days the motor starts working again. Tomorrow I'm going to try checking the alignment of the rails(if the motor works). I do have to struggle to get the screw holes lined up.
