jesus its been a while, and boy do i have stories

well its only taken me about a month to get around to posting these runs but i figured while i have the time ill get to it...
first a list of cars
me- 1994 bmw 325i, mods, c.a.i. and short shifter
rob 2006 honda s2000 mods none
ernie 05(i think) SRT4 mods - lots but dont really know
phong 2006 honda civic se mods- c.a.i

for those of you who were there, the "day back at the races" at kingdon air strip was a freakin blast! although it was mainly v8 montsers there were a few imports that were holding their own and puttin down runs worthy of mentioning but ill get to those later. so 5:30 saturday morning i woke up to a cool dark day, hopped in my car and headed over to meet up with ernie 209SRT and my buddy rob to get out to the track(it opened at 7) so we get there and as expected not to many people showed up but thats ok, we all had our rides and ernie brought along his buddy phong(i dont know if i spelled that right) and his '06 si... so at around nine oclock racing started... but by that time there were hundreds upon hundreds of cars out there. so we got in line... rob in his 06 s2000, me in my bimmer ernie in the srt and phong in the civic. so we're in line waiting to get our chance. first up in our group was me and phong. and from what i've heard and seen of the new si's there no pushover.

1st run: we line up and because im a little hesitant to mess up the dying clutch in my car i didn't heat up the tires. so we line up and the lights drop. i launched at around 3000 rpms and had a little spin but with a little throttle play i grabbed and took off, phong unfortunately spun quite a bit. up through first i had him by about half a car and into second i held him there. but up came my least favorite gear, i hit third and look back and there is phong creeping steadily on my back door. SH!T i thought, through third he gained almost a whole car, and into fourth... by this time he is at my passenger door and the finish line started comin up quick so i hit fourth and stomp it. with him now creeping slowly we hit the line with him at the back of my front fender... it was a damn good first race and the first time i've raced at a track.

unfortunately i didnt get a chance to see ernie and rob's first run. so back into line we go... waiting for almost a half hour because of the amount of people racing but there we were and phong and i decided to go again heads up. but this time everything possible went wrong.
from the launch my run was over, as i mentioned before my clutch is dying, and as i lauched i watched as the tach pegg out at less than twenty miles an hour and i knew i didnt spin so i hit second and the same thing happened... damn, so i just threw it into third and coasted and parked my damn car smelling clutch the whole way... but i got a chance to see rob and ernie run. rob was up first
match up rob- '06 honda s2000(bone stock) vs 04 s2000(stock as well)
off the bat i knew who would win rob is a decent driver and the it really wasn't a fair race. from the lauch rob had him by lenghts and finished with the 94 trailing by about 3 or 4 cars...
next up was ernie 05 srt(few mods not really sure)vs year:n/a srt(few mods)
as most of you know first gear in a srt is useless and ernie can atest to this, so the lights drop and they launch spinnging like crazy quick thinking ernie peddles it a little to get traction and hits second the other srt just fell back from there up through all the gears ernie just walked away from the poor guy and crossed the line with litterally bus lenghts on the other srt, i think ernie trapped at somewhere around 100. good runs all around,
after a few hours i decided to take betty out for a couple more runs(betty is my car by the way)
first race was a 95 bmw 325(auto, stock) vs me
it really wasn't a even match since the kid was drivin a stock auto but it was a fun race... off the launch the clutch held up fine and i basically walked the ohter bimmer by a few cars
next race me vs 2000 nissan sentra SER specV (mods not sure but damn)
i knew i would lose but its ok hell of a car to run against considering was i drive so lights drop since i have RWD i got a little bit of a jump and he bogged a bit and had him through first but after that it was a wrap he ran away from me to the line and had me by about five cars... i didnt get a chance to talk to the guy but gotta love the spec V
and that was about the end of the day so ya.. all in all it was a damn good day fun races lots a cars and lots and lots of hot girls to oogle at... but kingdon will re open in may and run all summer long. its a sweet local track and will bring out alot of the big guns in town(hopefully)

Re: jesus its been a while, and boy do i have stories

Sounds like fun. They have a similar event at LACR, but that track sucks, which is why I don't go. It kinda stinks that you don't get a timeslip, but it's alot more fun just running a car and not knowing what it is capable of time wise (Sometimes that can set you up for a loss).

Man I gotta run my car in January or February. I just wanna see how I fare against an 03 Cobra.

Re: jesus its been a while, and boy do i have stories

I have seen dynos of 300 and 310 to the wheels stock on LS1 Fbody's. There is no doubt in my mind that they are putting out 350 at the motor.

Yeah Racers Night at LACR about a week ago(I think maybe more) was wack.

But the only thing about the track that is good is if you run a good time imagine at a better track

If you can run good at LACR then your set to go.

You don't think you will have trouble against an 03 with just the lid/filter and converter? I don't know, maybe if you come off the line better than he can. I think the power advantage will still be something to worry about.

He would have to be. I could be mistaken, but I believe I read somewhere that the E36 3s are a touch quicker than the E46s (something to do with the computer). I have an E46 with an intake and I'm auto, and I beat a stock Spec V with his nose at my rear wheel and an Exhaust/maybe intake Spec V by about a nose (his nose at my door). I would think this guy was probably I/H/E, maybe high flow cats or tranny bits (flywheel?), and of course the good old fashion driver mod.
