Heated seats

I just purchased a 2000 LS v8 and the driver seat doesnt heat....passenger works great. Also my rear defrost doesnt work. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting?

The main power fuse is shared between the passenger's and driver's seat heaters, so the fuse must be okay. Does the "on" LED of the driver's side seat heater button come on when you press the button? Each seat has its own heated seat module, so if one works and the other doesn't, it almost comes down to the switch, the module, or the seat heater elements.

Do you have a multimeter or test light that you could use to check for voltage out of the heated seat module?

Same question for the rear defrost, does the indicator on the button light when you press the button? If the button lights, you could use a test light or multimeter to check for voltage at the defroster grid. The rear defrost circuit consists of the rear defrost switch, a few connectors, the Rear Electronic module, the rear defrost relay, power for the grid, and the grid itself.

According to the service manual for the 2002 model year (I do not have the manual for 2000), there is nothing common (circuit-wire) between the seat heaters and rear defrost.

Mine actually is the same thing, only difference is the defrost works fine. My LED powers on, however i never get any heat but only on the drivers side. Passenger's heats up like a champ. Any thing i can check?

Same here just my drivers side heat dosen't work. Light comes on but no heat. The passengerside works great so my wife doesn't care to much.

Do either of you have the "Easy Exit" feature enabled where the seat moves forward and backwards with the ignition key? If so, you may want to take a look under the seat to check for a disconnected connector or cut wires.

According to the system diagram for the 2002 model year, both sides share the same fuses. If the switch is lighting up, it should be getting power too which points to a wiring issue between the switch and the seat heater module or the heater element itself. The seat cushion heater element is separate from the seat back heater element, so it's probably not an element problem.
