2000 Kia Sportage

I just bought a 2000 Kia Sportage EX for my wife, it has 56k on it and I was just wondering if there were any problems I should keep an eye out for?

Re: 2000 Kia Sportage

I you think the front wheel hubs do not work, you are probably right...unless they have been already replaced. (in which case they protrude through hub caps). At 56k, the timing belt is OK but will need attention after 70k miles.
Wiring and connectors are a common problem. Idle Air Control valve needs cleaning if you notice erratic idle AND hard starting.

Re: 2000 Kia Sportage

Thanks for the tips. Would you happen to know a place online that has good accessories for the Sportage? I nearly had a heart-attack at the dealer when I saw what they wanted for mats!

Re: 2000 Kia Sportage

look on eBay, I bought a nice set for $20 fit perfectly. just search in kia sportage and sift through there. Definatly change the timing belt, rollers and tensioner spring. while it's apart change the water pump. DO NOT use an aftermarket water pump. scroll up to my posts and you'll see why.
