Are you talking about the DPFI to MPFI swap? If so, you can swap in the intake manifolds and gain some horsepower, don't know how much. Now the vtec part, I don't know that much about. I know Sport Compact Car has done this swap and show how to do it in some of their mags. I know that wasn't that much help, but you might be able to check their website and find out more.

130 u wish!! You can expect 110horse from a dx, si you can expect 115-120... It costs much more than its worth. For that you could just swap a d16z6 in.........

umm curious ... how would the dx differ from the si that it would get less hp in an engine swap. cause if i remember right it shouldnt. now it might be that im just reading this wrong, but if i am, could you please clarify it so we can all understand what you ment to say!?

if you just do the DPFI to MPFI swap, you wont get teh same HP as a si, you have to do cams and a couple other thigns to get it, Also a dx is 1.5l and a si is 1.6l

I was staying on the subject of the mini me swap and not a coplete swap... A mini me swap (d16 y8 or z6) head on a dx/si/hf/std block will give those figures I mentioned. For those figures and costing about a $500-1000 a d16z6 would be a better for the money....

I found a D16Y8 at a local junkyard for $900. They had 5 of them sitting on their shelves, and I could get a cheaper one, but the $900 one has less than 8000 miles on it... So, try your local junkyard, cuz if you find one there, you don't have to pay to ship it anywhere, and in my case, they are letting me make payments on it instead of having to pay for it all at once (I've got $300 left to pay).

sweet deal i hope i can find one around here for a good price, but $900 i dunno some one told me around $600 for the swap but im gonna hafta see for myself. if it is that much for a d16y8 i might jus reconsider the b16a but thats only if they really cost between 1200 to 1500. who knows?:jump:

you should be able to find a d16y8 cheaper. remember with the b16a you have to buy a mount kit and linkage, etc. so realisticaly a lil more than 1500

lol a lil more? $950 for all components needed to swap it in..... Then $275 for the exedy clutch kit. then $1k for the engine... $400 labor, $200 5spd conversion.... That is what I plan to pay. Plus like $200 to get to Iowa and stay there while the swap is being done. Hang with mellowboy :sun: .. I need to get my priorities straight first because this won't happen till spring break.. I need to get my front exterior done first... BTW pics will be posted soon I am excited!

back to the head swap

if you put the vtec head on it you will also need some machine work done on the head. the oil hole for the vtec solenoid will need to be plugged and a new oil line from the pump it sounds like alot but it's not that bad...those heads are cheap...look up ls/vtec swap...it's very similar.
