problems with first gen (1990)

ok so heres the scoop, i have a 1990 blazer i just bought off a guy and i drove it 10 mioles from my house pulled into a parking lot and poof rearend went out and BOTH axles slid out of the rearend causing hell for my blazer well so i got a 1991 s10 with a 2.8 and a 5speed stick (my blazer is a 4.3 with an auto) i was wondering if i can swa-p rearends i know the s10 one is shorter but i want to know if the ratios will be the same? thanks (dave)

ok second question, will both the spider gears be the same in either rearend?
if so it seems as the only the spider gear went so i was gonna swap them and i have found that the s10 has a 410 and the blazer has a 411

Re: problems with first gen (1990)

The rearend that had damnade was out of the blazer (411) the ring and pinion are allright but the spider gears are trashed and the shaft that you have to remove to remove the c clips for the axles was torn to shreds so i want to put the spider from my 410 diff on the 411 ring gear and slap it back in my 411 read diff so i have no clue what kinda ratio i would have
WHat is the formula for figuring out what kinda ratio that would be? seince the ring in a 411 has 40 teeth and the spider has 11 buit the 410 only has 10 teeth on the spider and the ring has fo so i would have a 41 rearend with a 40 tooth ring and a 10 tooth spider (insted of 11) so i have no idea wtf will happen i know its confusing and all the way i explained it but hey maybe somebody will figure this out
