Maf removeal question

OK this is a problem that i have trying to figure out how to get around.. how can you just take the maf sensor off? If you unplug it, it runs like shit. Would a maf translator work?

Re: Maf removeal question

Now why would you ever want to do that? Please explain to us what your problem with the MAF is.

Re: Maf removeal question

Sure you can take it off, but your car will run like absolute shit. You have to have some type of air metering system so the car knows how much fuel to dump in.

Re: Maf removeal question

maf-t will help but you're gonna need more tuning to have the engine run correctly. the MAF is there for a reason...translate it when you're around the 500 hp range

Re: Maf removeal question

Uhh... MAFT will not get rid of it like the thread starter wants it just relocates it and uses a GM one rather than the big ass 2g MAF. Just leave the shit alone homeboy, they put stuff there for a reason, in this case, to make your car work.

Re: Maf removeal question

just stick with the stock maf. the only way to get rid of that big maf is to use gm-maf. I only went to the gm-maf rought is because back in the day when i was just barely learning about moding the eclipse a guy told me it is easier to tune when I get bigger injectors. you can look at my cardomain link in my sig to see when it looks like. dont make the mistake I did, just stick with the stock one. it will make your life a lot easier when you go to tune it.

Re: Maf removeal question

Well, actually I think you can get a standalone such as haltec or EMS and run a MAP sensor by itself instead of the MAF. I dont know for sure, but I think my buddy with a 1g fully built doesnt have a MAF and hes just running off the MAP sensor and his haltec. Those $1000+ standalones are no way to get rid of a 2g MAF just because its ugly though.
