98 Lumina 3.1 Lights Flickering

The headlights and all interior lights dim and go back to normal brightness constantly while I drive, any ideas? Thank You.

multifunction/headlamp switch or a bad battery connection.

I experienced the same problem with my 1997 Lumina 3.1 liter. One of the battery side terminal coonectors was loose.

Re: 98 Lumina 3.1 Lights Flickering

i list a few things and some possible remedies..

As stated above, check the connections to the battery
could possibly be a bad alternator... this is not uncommon.
could also be a high load device turning on.
if youve got a stereo in your vehicle that draws a lot of juice it can do this on bass notes..

tighten battery cables at the battery and also the block, starter, and alternator.

take the vehicle to a qualified shop, advance auto parts, napa, checker and ask them to test the alternator... a shop may charge a small fee while the
other choices are usually free

next step is to upgrade to a beefier alternator if your lights are disco blinking with the music, your stereo is just taking to much juice, im gonna guess you have a 60A alternator right now, try to find an 80A or higher output alternator if you do have a system

Re: 98 Lumina 3.1 Lights Flickering

It was a loose battery terminal, I tightened it and the problem is gone.
