Alright.... found this 1980 El Camino SS, white, nice interior, dash in great condition, after market CD, new seats, 305 w/ only 40k, 350 auto trans w/ 30k ml, no cat dual flowmaster, stock headers , Extreamly clean... daily driver... plastik bed, for $4000... now its to my understanding that the SS El Camino didn't have the 305 but it orinially had the 350 but it was a project car that the guy couldn't pay for.. is 4k too much or is this a good buy???

Good buy, 350 crate motors are cheap and make good power. Wouldn't be hard to put one in some day.

Well while were on the subject of good deal or not I have a question too. I was looking at a El Camino a man owns in my town it’s a 1969 with a 350 small block and the interior is like new the dash is like new runs great (got to test drive) auto trans the only real flaw is the paint its peeled on the hood and in the bed but that’s about it. I’m pretty sure by looking at it a nice sanding session and I little prime will do the trick, plus there is no visible rust so I think the metal is fine. He wants 2,000 I thought that was a pretty good deal but I just wanted to make sure so I posted to see what you guys think! So is this a good deal?

I also forgot to mention that the motor has about 215,000 miles on it but since the own took such great care of it, it doesn’t smoke or anything!

Well I was looking at the 350-performer Edelbrock engine. They go for about 6,600 the specific one I’m looking at has a 9.5:1 compression ratio and makes about 410 horsepower with about 408 Ft/lbs of torque!
pics coming in a sec! |

Crate motor. Crate motor. Crate motor. Good god, doesn't anyone build their own motors anymore?

Good point 406! When you build your own motor, you can build to do exactly what you want it to.

Re: Advice: Purchase Yes? or No?
www.sdpc2000.com get a crate motor from them not GM, GM sucks ass on waranty and they also break very easily under normal conditions and i mean normal.not beaten on in the least infact my number 3 main cap bolt fell out shortly after first start up and blew the motor , 2nd one the rods were installed backwards so i bought a block and built my own and put a SD motor in my 3rd gen camaro
